Businesses who would like to sponsor shows will be mentioned in all advertising and programs, press releases.  The suggested sponsor donation is $250 or higher.  Funds are used to pay the bands and sound engineers, and for an equipment fund for future concerts. (Tax Deductible too!)

Our POL winner for 2024 is Elizabeth Lopez-Rangel! Elizabeth is a student at Surprise Valley High School where her teacher, Heather Bordwell, has made Poetry Out Loud part of the cirriculum. With support from the Modoc County Arts Council and the CA Arts Council, Elizabeth and her parents will travel to Sacramento, California to compete in the state POL contest at the Capitol on March 17 - 18, 2024.

At The Niles Theater in Alturas!

The show was a success! Thank you to all the volunteers, parents, and children!!

The Modoc County Arts Council has created a program called the Modoc Community Concert Series to bring quality music performances to the area. Some of the concerts are free to patrons and others are low cost.  We have produced two concerts at the Fort Bidwell Town Hall over the summer of 2022 -- Cruz Contreras (formally of the Black Lillies) and Huckelberry Road.  

The National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation present the Poetry Out Loud (POL): National Recitation Contest, in partnership with The California Arts Council and The Modoc County Arts Council.


Poetry Out Loud is a program that encourages high school students to learn about great poetry through memorization, performance, and competition. 

Poetry Out Loud is a wonderful program for teachers and students and is very valuable for confidence, poise, and appreciation of the arts. To read more about the program check out their website atwww.poetryoutloud.org 

 -- students start picking out poems from the online anthology and memorizing two or three of them in the fall of the school year. Please tell your teachers that you would like POL to be part of the class curriculum!

​The Upstate California Creative Corps offers artists - and organizations and local government departments hoping to employ artists - an opportunity to apply for funding to create awareness around issues critical to society.  Over $3 million will be re-granted to artists in the Upstate California region, arts and social service organizations, as well as units of government who will employ artists.

Since 1981, The Modoc County Arts Council has supported the development of artists and programs that inspire and bring the gift of art to every person in Modoc County.  Through the arts we can connect with each other and find common ground; our children can learn to solve problems and think creatively; new people and cultures can be appreciated; we can share our culture with others.  Please join us in supporting the arts in Modoc County!

Missoula Children's Theatre 2024!

In partnership with the Alturas Art Center, The Modoc County Arts Council is providing funding to compensate Art Instructors who teach a minimum of eight sessions of an art class to a minimum of five students . Classes are typically 8 weeks long. Big News! The Modoc County Arts Council has taken over the running of KILN LP 99.1 FM  from the Art Center. Expect big changes and more community content in the coming months. This is Modoc's local community radio station and recording studio! Supported through donations and funding from a grant administered by the Modoc County Arts Council.
