About the Gidutikad Band
The Gidutikad Band of Northern Paiutes are the indigenous people of the Modoc Basin — stewards of the land, water, and culture of northeastern California for thousands of years. Their name, Gidutikad, means 'tule eaters,' reflecting their deep connection to the wetlands and natural resources of the region. MCAC is honored to work alongside the Gidutikad Band's Pow Wow Committee and community members to support cultural arts programming that celebrates and preserves Northern Paiute traditions.

Our Partnership with MCAC
The Modoc County Arts Council partners with the Gidutikad Band Pow Wow Committee on cultural arts programming that connects the broader Modoc County community with Northern Paiute traditions. Together we bring hands-on workshops, wellness murals, and community gatherings that honor Indigenous heritage and strengthen the fabric of our region.

A collaborative public art project bringing together Native artists and community members to create a wellness mural at the Warner Mountain Indian Health Clinic — celebrating healing, culture, and community identity.
Community Connect — Wellness Cafe Cultural Arts Workshops
Hands-on cultural arts workshops held at the Community Connect Wellness Cafe, including Ribbon Skirt making and Hand Drum Painting. These workshops are open to the community and offer a meaningful way to connect with Northern Paiute traditions.
